Areola/Nipple – Permanent Makeup/Tattooing

Posted by Stephanie on April 25, 2013

As the ‘trend’ or ‘beauty craze’ of nipple tattooing ( or ‘titooing’ ) sweeps the UK with women who want the ‘perfect breasts,’ renowned beauty and permanent makeup experts, Nouveau Beauty Group highlight the real reasons behind areola tattooing and why thousands of women have this procedure every day for reasons far from following a ‘trend.’

From cosmetic to medical – permanent cosmetics involve a range of complex procedures where technicians attain exact skin tones to mimic what is missing or camouflage scars / disfigurements. For many years there was a divide / void between cosmetic and medical permanent makeup but thanks to Nouveau Beauty Group and its Managing Director Karen Betts’ determination and pioneering work with cancer charities and oncoplastic surgeons, they have proved to their critics that the micropigmentation industry is not solely about cosmetic vanity – but also about restoring confidence to those who have lost it through no fault of their own often after devastating medical circumstances.

In response to the recent press re nipple tattooing. Nouveau Beauty Group absolutely support those who have tattooing on their breasts for cosmetic reasons however thousands of women have these treatments after suffering from medical conditions such as breast cancer – for these people medical tattooing can help provide a solution to their changed appearance. This treatment provides a replication of realistic looking areolae which creates the illusion of nipple protrusion for clients who have often had a mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery. People coping with illness or disfigurement often feel like they’ve lost their femininity, their confidence, their self-esteem so this treatment really can change their lives for the good – it helps restore appearance and confidence after having to deal psychologically with an altered body image, in addition to the effects of chemotherapy and surgery. This can be an incredibly emotional experience / procedure as it’s often the final step of a women’s journey post illness.

Whilst it has been reported that areola tattooing is becoming a ‘beauty trend,’ as above, women can require nipple and areola tattooing for a wide variety of reasons - we wish to strongly emphasize that this is a treatment that many women have for medical reasons and not because it’s a ‘trend.’

Permanent cosmetics are incredibly popular and beneficial for cosmetic reasons but we as a brand wish to convey its place in the medical industry and insist that for many this treatment is a life changing medical necessity.  Permanent Cosmetic Elite Technician / Trainer Cathy Brown Comments On Behalf Of Nouveau Beauty Group: “Areola tattooing provides an artistic finish to compliment reconstructive breast surgery following a mastectomy. With careful colour selection, using a combination of micropigmentation techniques to layer pigment, a natural nipple areola complex can be created with the illusion of nipple protrusion. It helps to restore appearance and confidence after having to deal with an altered body image post – chemotherapy and surgery. For me as a medical tattooist, these procedures are filled with such emotion as it is often the final stage of their surgical journey.

Our special invitation to “The Beautiful Ball in aid of the Katie Piper Foundation”

Posted by Stephanie on April 16, 2013

Last Thursday (11th April) PR Coordinator, Lynsey joined Karen and Bridgette in London to attend “My Beautiful Ball 2013 in aid of The Katie Piper Foundation”.  Here is a lovely article from Lynsey about the event, The Katie Piper Foundation and the fabulous work that goes on.

“Having played an instrumental part in setting up Karen’s medical tattoo clinics for the foundation in 2012, I felt honoured to be invited to attend ‘My Beautiful Ball 2013’ in aid of The Katie Piper Foundation.

Katie, as usual, looked stunning and gave a very honest account of how the Foundation and all its supporters really make a significant difference to the lives of those living with burns and scars. I felt very proud of Karen and Bridgette, who work tirelessly to educate people about the difference medical tattooing can make to those living with an altered facial appearance as a result of an accident or illness.

As part of the event, the Foundation played video footage of people they have helped.  Two of these video clips came from women, Karen and Bridgette have recently worked with as part of the work they do for the foundation.

Both Nicole and Tulsi gave a very moving response to their eyebrow treatment, which brought a tear to my eye.   All too often people take for granted features like eyebrows and ask ‘why would anyone want their eyebrows tattooed?’.  Eyebrows make up 70% of our facial features and help us express our emotions so I would advise anyone who asks this question or has thought it to look at this footage.  I personally attended Nicole’s appointment and over the months have followed her journey and watched her confidence and self esteem go from strength to strength.

Simply hearing all the stories of all the patients that attend the foundation and listening to them explain how treatments such as eyebrow restoration and specialist hair systems help aid them psychologically on their road to recovery and enable them to face their everyday tasks is so encouraging and the main reason Nouveau continue to support the foundations vision.

As a company we are truly honoured to be associated with The Katie Piper Foundation and consider Katie a true inspiration, we look forward to helping in as many ways as possible for the foreseeable future.”

Kerry Hayston tells us all about her afternoon with Gary Cockerill!

Posted by Stephanie on April 16, 2013

In February Gary Cockerill launched his first ever trade competition on Twitter! Following the successful launch of his Daytime to Playtime Pro lashes, Gary decided to give something back with a 3 hour one on one make-up master class in London!

To win, salon owners were required to purchase a Gary Cockerill professional lash stand and 40 packs of lashes to go with it, they would then be automatically entered into a prize draw.

The lucky winner Kerry Hayston owner of Solo Beauty in Whitehaven enjoyed a fantastic afternoon on the 11th April at Charles Fox in Covent Garden with Gary, learning the latest make-up tips and tricks! And doesn’t she look great after Gary did her make-up!

Here is a sneak peak in to how her day went:

Hi Lara. I travelled down by train to London from Cumbria on the morning of the master class. I really didn’t know what to expect so the journey was full of excitement mixed with nerves as I was aware of Gary’s celebrity portfolio, which is quite extensive! Along with my friend who I brought along for moral support, I hot footed it across to Covent Garden and had some breakfast before heading over to Charles Fox!

I arrived around 10am and Gary arrived shortly after, we then went to one of the rooms to start the master class.

I was overwhelmed at how at ease Gary put me and how genuinely lovely he was, he took time to discuss the look he was going to do and suggested we do a day to night look going through the stages of foundation and contouring to the face and eyes, he also showed me his way of lash application. He gave me some invaluable tips along the way which I will be taking into my own salons and passing onto my own staff. (Once my make up was finished my friend and I went for lunch at Belgos in Covent Garden followed by a few wine bars - couldn’t miss the chance to show that amazing make-up off!!) The make-up was totally different to what I would normally go for but it has opened me up to using different colours on myself and my clients. It was a fantastic experience I didn’t want the day to end. I travelled back to Cumbria that evening and although a little tired it was the best experience ever, would love to do it all over again!

Kerry x

We are glad you had a fab time Kerry!

If you are on Twitter follow @garys_lashes and keep up to date with all the latest competitions and give-aways! You never know you could be next in London having your make-up done by Gary Cockerill!
