The latest beauty buzzwords – permanent cosmetics – have a huge impact on both a beauty therapist’s and client’s life.
“Permanent make-up is suitable for everyone from the young to the elderly who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance, those seeking reconstruction of areolas after surgery; camouflage of scars from burns, surgery, accidents or injuries, and the redefinition of facial features”. Karen Betts, industry expert.
Karen Betts is delighted to announce a new collaboration with The Katie Piper Foundation which will see her become their official and exclusive permanent make-up consultant for 2012.
Katie Piper and her Foundation are well known in the UK for their charitable work which aims to make life easier for people living with burns and scars. Katie’s ambition is to help others in their quest to feel confident again in spite of their scars; and strives to recommend and provide a network of the best treatments and technicians available for fellow survivors.
Karen has personally worked with Katie Piper as she recovered from an acid attack in 2008 and, over a twelve month process, recreated Katie’s lips, brows and eye definition. This personal and professional relationship developed from then and resulted in Karen offering her expert skills and services in four clinic locations countrywide – including London’s prestigious Harley Street – to help survivors look and feel attractive again and hopefully help improve the lives of people living with facial disfigurements.
Katie Piper says:“I’m so pleased that Karen has offered her expertise to help other survivors feel more confident about themselves. She has a great passion and determination to help change people’s lives and I’m delighted that she’s able to help the Foundation.”
Caroline’s Campaign is the brainchild of campaigner and current ‘London Personality of The Year’ Caroline Monk. Caroline knows all too well, like many of Karen’s current patients, how devastating the effects of chemo are on a person’s physical appearance and confidence – this includes the loss of head hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. These symptoms serve as a constant reminder of the disease and can make coping with the illness very difficult. Caroline’s Campaigns see a number of deserving women pampered all over the country including Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds.
Karen Betts is a BUPA registered beautician renowned across the world for her expertise in semi-permanent makeup and medical tattooing. Karen’s passion and determination to change lives coincides and parallels with Caroline Monk’s fantastic cancer charity work. Karen can literally tattoo back on their confidence to the affected areas. Karen’s work is unprecedented in both the beauty and medical sector and is also the MD of the largest semi-permanent make-up training school in Europe, ‘Nouveau Contour’ which trains thousands of individuals in these specialised ‘micropigmentation’ skills and we hope that Karen’s expertise and skills continue to make a positive change to the confidence and lives of these women who have been affected by the disease.
Do you watch Corrie? If you’re a fan then you’ll recognise Catherine Tyldesley who plays fiesty newcomer, Eva Price – don’t her brows look fab! That’s because Catherine visited Karen Betts for semi-permanent makeup on her eyebrows. Here’s what she had to say about her treatment…
“My eyebrows were non existant. After over plucking them when I was younger, they stopped growing. I had tried everything and grew tired of having to draw them on everyday. Then I heard about Karen Betts and the amazing work she does.
I am thrilled with the results. They look so natural and are the exact shape I wanted. Its nice to have eyebrows again!”

This charity pamper day, sees Karen bringing her beauty team from the prestigious Harley Street to the Denise Lebar Hair-Loss and Beauty Boutique also in London.
The women will have a full day of pampering, before they will be taken to a London Hotel to join their families and showcase their new look. Celebrities and supporters of Caroline’s Campaign will also join in the celebrations to make the day extra special. Read more
