Nouveau Contour and Karen Betts Return to Professional Beauty London

Posted by Nadia Burgess on January 22, 2016

Nouveau Contour are looking forward to returning to one of the UK’s leading Beauty Industry Events, Professional Beauty London, on Sunday 28th and  Monday 29th February, to meet and talk to aspiring permanent cosmetics artists and provide information on what a career in the industry entails.

Located on stand O30. discussing everything from the training courses which are available, to the potential earning power a career in the industry can bring, the Nouveau Contour team will also have a practice area available. Here attendees can try their hand at tattooing using the industry leading Nouveau Contour Intelligent Machine and Pigment Pen, and get a feel for the equipment and basic techniques used by the pros.

The Nouveau Contour Trainers will also be present at the show, performing permanent cosmetics treatments on clients via live demonstrations, to show potential students the quality of work which can be achieved if they opt to train with the best in the industry.

Karen Betts will be joining the Nouveau Contour Trainers performing treatments and talking to attendees about training opportunities. She will also be hosting seminars on both days to educate attendees on medical tattooing and unveil her new semi-permanent makeup technique, which teaches artists how to create perfect eye brows featuring natural, long lasting hair strokes, similar to those created through micro-blading.

Products from the Nouveau Beauty Group shop will also be available for permanent makeup artists to purchase on both days, as well as the acclaimed pigments from Karen Betts’ ‘K.B Pro’ pigment range.

Nouveau Contour and Karen Betts are very much looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Colour and Correction Pro-Tips Education Day #CCPROTIPS

Posted by Sarah Gordon on July 10, 2015

Colour and correction is one of the most vital theories of permanent cosmetics and medical tattooing for artists; assessing skin tone and types, using the correct 1NC - Quote-01needles, having the right stretch, the list goes on. But one of the primary factors in the quality of the final result for any client relies heavily upon the pigment used.

Does the pigment offer good stability and high definition? How does the pigment fade? Does the colour heal true? Does the pigment have the correct undertone and base to match the client’s skin tone? These are all important factors to consider before the needle even touches your clients skin.

With women investing thousands of pounds each year on permanent make-up, it is becoming more and more important to ensure they are getting the best possible results. To ensure artists throughout the UK are up to date and knowledgeable about colour and correction theory, Karen Betts, one of the most prolific names in semi-permanent makeup and tattooing, hosted a Permanent cosmetics Colour and Correction Pro-Tips Education Day at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on 6th July. The event was a resounding success, as Karen and her team of elite artists imparted their industry expertise and knowledge in all things colour theory.

“After more than 15 years in the industry, I am thrilled to have been able to experience the new colour wheel and KB Pro colour pigments.  Can’t wait to put both to good use. An invaluable course. All staff were knowledgeable, helpful and so pleasant. Great day, will attend further training with KB. Xx” Sandie

Karen also launched her new K.B Pro pigment range at the event, giving attendees an exclusive opportunity to use the new pigments. All attendees were gifted a goody bag of sample pigments worth £120, along with a Professional Colour Book and Colour Wheel worth over £100. All attendees also received a Certificate of Attendance to officially validate the invaluable information they had learnt.

Don’t worry if you missed the event, there are still a few spaces left at the Colour and Correction Day in South Yorkshire, 28th of September. But, hurry and book now as spaces are limited.

“Inspirational Training” – by Becky Coates

Posted by Nadia Burgess on January 19, 2015

Becky Coates recently sent this beautiful – and moving – message to our MD, Karen Betts and we wanted to share this with you. Our thanks go to Becky – your lovely words have brought a smile to everyone’s face.

“I hope you don’t mind me messaging you but I just wanted to say what an inspiration you are to myself and how your company and the products you offer have turned my life around.

I originally trained as a nail technician 14 years ago and managed a salon in Brighton.  Sadly, the business closed down and I went mobile for a bit but found it hard to make ends meet.  I then went on to work for British Airways as cabin crew for 9 years.  I got back into beauty in June last year following the sudden & untimely death of my amazing Dad.  At the time I was on maternity leave from BA & it made me realise that being away from my family was something I didn’t want anymore as life is too short & preciou.  I didn’t want to miss a moment of spending time with them.

My dad always taught me that it doesn’t matter what you do in life as long as you’re happy.  So with this is mind I remembered how happy I was when I was involved in the beauty industry and I set about doing my research & re-training.

In August, I completed the HD Brows course & Nouveau Lashes then in November I went on to train in LVL Lashes. I can’t believe how well my business has taken off since offering these treatments and how much clients love them and keep coming back.

I was initially worried about offering HD Brows and LVL as I did a bit of market research beforehand and no one had heard of them in my area, and no one in a 15 mile radius of where I lived offered these treatments.  I don’t know why I worried as these are my most popular treatments and everyday I’m getting new bookings.

Following on from the success of these treatments I have booked to train in Dermatude and this time I will be the only person in the whole of Mid Sussex to offer it.  I have been really fortunate to be able to offer this treatment in one of most recognised & respected clinics in Haywards Heath.  When I set up my mobile business Blissimo Beauty in August last year I never imagined how successfully it would have become in such a short space of time and I am so proud and amazed of what I have achieved.  Being able to do the job I do and being excited everyday about performing these treatments had given me a passion for life again.

The memory of my dad has been my driving force throughout this whole experience plus believing in the amazing products and services that you offer and the uniqueness of them. My dad always said to me, from as far back as you can remember, ‘you can do anything if you put your mind to’, so here’s to a successful 2015 for us all.”

Kind Regards, Becky Coates
